01/17/14 ‘Gilligan’s Island’ Professor, Russell Johnson, died yesterday at the age of 89. I met him years ago at an event held by a group hosting a “3 hour tour” boat ride along the Potomac River with the then remaining cast members from the show. I couldn’t get over how rabid the fans were at this floating party. They reminded me of the legion of Star Trek fans. This was my favorite photo from the evening.  As they were lining up for a group shot with a life preserver, Bob Denver seems to be saying “Please get me out of here!” with his eyes at the lens.  I like this one much better than the more staged photo I took seconds afterwards. I later included this image in an exhibit I called “Oddopolis” which was all about the bizzaro stuff that happens in DC.
