From The Press Release:
Community Members, Clergy, and Artists To Unite Saturday
in the Nation’s Capital for the Trayvon Martin Justice Rally
Members of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan community demand an
adequate investigation into Trayvon Martin’s death
This Saturday supporters and community members stunned by the injustice that occurred when 17-year-old, Trayvon Martin was shot and killed outside of his Sandford, Fla. home, will unite on Freedom Plaza this Saturday for a Justice Rally. The purpose of the convening is to urge the federal government to perform a thorough and impartial investigation into the death of Martin. This week, the U.S. Department of Justice opened a civil rights probe into the shooting, which prompted a group of friends to organize a rally in the federal government’s back yard. Join us as we share a moment of silence for Trayvon, hear reflections from community leaders and celebrate his memory with local artists. We hope that you can join us as we stand in solidarity for the family of Trayvon Martin as they seek justice for their son’s death.
