04/27/10 I was honored to meet W.J. Milan-Kamski on Tuesday night. He was attending a reception held by the Embassy of Poland at the Renwick Gallery to celebrate the anniversary of the ratification of the Polish Constitution of May 3, 1791, the second democratic constitution in the world (after the US), and the first in Europe.
Milan-Kamski escaped occupied Poland at the age of 16 to join the free Polish forces fighting Nazism. His medals indicate (among other things) his participation in the famous and costly battle of Monte Cassino in Italy in 1944.
[Colonel Andrzei Kopacki, Asst Defense and Military Attaché with Mr. W.J. Milan Kamski.]
[The evening’s guest of honor, Jerzy Buzek, President of the European Parliament.]
