04/04/10 85 year old Praskoviya Koloskova lives in an old people’s home in Semipalantinsk. She witnessed the explosion of the Soviet Union’s first Hydrogen bomb and has had subsequent health problems. Her husband and a son died from cancer which she attributes to radiation fallout. She said the authorities at the time told residents of the area to open the doors and windows of their houses and to stand outside when an atomic test was conducted.
