World Jazz Soloist LOIDE Performs at DC Jazz Festival
Performance to be held at Smithsonian American Art Museum – Kogad Courtyard within the Jazz in the ‘Hoods series
Loide (pronounced Loy-deh) a DC based jazz vocalist will perform at the 8th annual DC Jazz Festival. While Loide recorded her last album, Live at Bohemian Caverns, during the festival in 2008, this will be her first official DC Jazz Festival performance. Loide’s performance is part of Jazz in the ‘Hoods, a special series within the festival. The popular series is presented by Events DC with the mission to bring jazz performances to nearly every neighborhood in the District. The Jazz in the ‘Hoods series features 10 days of 80 performances in museums, clubs, restaurants, hotels and galleries throughout the district. Loide will be performing within the Chinatown/Penn quarter section of the city.
Loide’s unique sound is a mix of her eclectic background, a marriage between the rhythms and melodies out of Portuguese speaking Africa (Mozambique and Guinea Bissau) and the soul inspired structure and layers of Black America’s indigenous music, Jazz.
