Beauties to Hand Out Veggie Chili Dogs to Combat Hot Dog Month

 What:             Wearing only strategically placed lettuce leaves, PETA’s sexy Lettuce Ladies will dish up free tasty, humane, and healthy veggie chili dogs under a banner that reads, “Go Green—Go Veg,” on Wednesday as they celebrate National Veggie Dog Day, PETA’s answer to the meat industry’s National Hot Dog Month.

What’s so great about veggie chili dogs? In addition to causing life-threatening health problems and animal suffering on a massive scale, raising animals for food is a leading cause of greenhouse-gas emissions, water pollution, and land degradation, and it consumes vast quantities of energy and resources.

“Our sexy vegetarians are living proof that kicking the meat habit is a great way to stay fit, trim, and energetic,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “And since a vegetarian diet also reduces your carbon footprint and saves animals’ lives, it’s a win-win situation for everyone.”

Kate Veltkamp, PETA’s reigning Sexiest Vegetarian Next Door, and Udara Perera—a Sexiest Vegetarian finalist and Silver Spring native—will be among the Lettuce Ladies handing out the healthy lunch on Wednesday.
