Hero’s Chest
04/27/10 I was honored to meet W.J. Milan-Kamski on Tuesday night. He was attending a reception held by the Embassy of Poland at the Renwick Gallery to celebrate the anniversary of the ratification of the Polish Constitution of May 3, 1791, the second democratic constitution in the world (after the US), and the first in Europe.
Milan-Kamski escaped occupied Poland at the age of 16 to join the free Polish forces fighting Nazism. His medals indicate (among other things) his participation in the famous and costly battle of Monte Cassino in Italy in 1944.

Titanic Toast
04/15/10 The Men’s Titanic Society toast the courage of the men aboard the doomed liner Titanic who willingly responded to the call of “women and children first!” and went down with the ship. This is the 32nd year the Society has marked the anniversary of the 1912 sinking. They gather at the Titanic Memorial – a hidden jewel of outdoor Washington sculpture – located at 4th and P Streets SW at 12:30a.m. which marks the time the ship broke apart and sank after hitting an iceberg.
The Presidential Palace
04/14/10 It’s been a hectic week or so. The day after I returned from Kazakhstan, I hopped on a 5:30am train to shoot Bridal Week in NYC for 4 days. Jet lag has me in it’s fearsome grip and I forgot to post my last KZ entry. Here it is.
These images were taken on 04/07/10 at the presidential palace in Astana, Kazakhstan as President Nazarbayev received an official visit by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

Herrera Run Of Show
04/11/10 I had a couple emailed questions about yesterday’s photos from the Carolina Herrera show. I asked a fashion reporter to show me her notes on the official run-of-show release and here they are. Hopefully this explains everything . . .
