07/27/09 “Dog Day Afternoon” is projected on the National Mall as part of the annual “Screen on the Green” festival. The 1975 Sidney Lumet film stars Al Pacino, John Cazale, Charles Durning, Chris Sarandon, Sully Boyar and Penelope Allen.

“Screen on the Green” came very close to shutting down this year but some last minute backers like HBO came through to keep it alive.
